Oxnard PD investigate major accident at Victoria and Doris Ave.’s

healing times;”>On Saturday, ampoule January 17, case 2015, at about 11:43 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to Victoria Avenue north of Doris Avenue in reference to an injury traffic collision involving two vehicles.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Pontiac Sunfire, driven by Erik Fenley, was traveling northbound on Victoria Avenue from Doris Avenue at a high rate of speed. For an unknown reason, it rear-ended the Toyota Corolla, driven by Ayla Rungaitis, that was also traveling northbound. The impact caused both drivers to lose control of the vehicles. The Pontiac flipped over and came to rest on its roof along the northbound shoulder of the roadway. The Toyota was forced across the center median and came to a stop in the southbound lanes of Victoria Avenue. Both vehicles sustained significant damage from the collision.

Driver Fenley was transported from the scene to Los Robles Hospital in the City of Thousand Oaks where he is currently listed in critical condition. He suffered a skull fracture and significant trauma to his left hand. Investigating officers also determined that his blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit of .08. Driver Rungaitis was not injured.
