UPDATE: Victim in double shooting dies–Now Oxnard’s 10th homicide this year

check times;”>Since yesterday morning, dosage Oxnard Police Department personnel from their Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) and Major Crimes units have been investigating an incident that left a 35-year old female with a gunshot wound to her leg and a 35-year old male with multiple gunshot wounds. The male victim had been receiving critical care at Ventura County Medical Center for his numerous injuries. Late last night, cure he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.  His name is being withheld until his family can be notified.

This is Oxnard’s tenth homicide of 2014 and the fourth in the last five (5) weeks. There are no indications that any of these four (4) homicides are connected in any way. The motive for this homicide is not known and investigators are continuing with the investigation.

Early Monday morning, at 1:30am, December 15th, Oxnard police were dispatched to the 700 block of South Oxnard Boulevard reference a shooting victim. Officers found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to the Ventura County Medical Center with life threatening injuries. The male victim is currently in ICU.

Several minutes later, a female called 911 to report that she had been shot. The female was at the Denny’s on North Oxnard Boulevard. Oxnard police officers and EMS personnel responded to the Denny’s restaurant. She was transported to Saint John’s Hospital with a serious, but non-life threatening gunshot wound to her leg.

According to witnesses, an unknown male walked up to a group of people in a parking lot in the 700 block of South Oxnard Boulevard and shot the male victim as he was talking to friends. The female was shot in the leg as she attempted to flee the shooting scene. Investigators believe the male was the intended victim and that the female was not. The motive for the shooting is not known and investigators are continuing with the investigation.
