Book signings, food and entertainment at Oxnard Public Library’s 110th anniversary celebration April 29, 2017

Join us from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Oxnard Main Library, 251 S. A St., to celebrate the Oxnard Public Library’s 110 years of offering enriching services to the community.

The event will feature complimentary refreshments, live music, bilingual story time, arts and crafts, face painting, train rides and many other exciting activities for people of all ages. View 3D printing and robotic demonstrations, stop by the authors’ booth to have your books signed by local authors and pay a visit to the Friends of the Oxnard Library to purchase books.

All activities and refreshments are free to the public, with the exception of for-sale books as well as ice cream and frozen treats by Mister Softee. A brief event schedule is listed below:

An extended version of the video will be available at www.vimeo.com/cityofoxnard on April 29 and will also be played during the April 29 event.Not only does 2017 mark 110 years of library services in Oxnard, but it is also significant because it is the 40th anniversary of the Colonia Branch Library; the 10th anniversary of the South Oxnard Branch Library; and 25th anniversary of the Main Library’s current site. From 5-6 p.m. Thursday, April 27, there will be a celebration at the Colonia Library, 1500 Camino del Sol #26, featuring dancers with the Inlakech Cultural Arts Center.

For 110 years, the Oxnard Public Library has enriched the lives of the City’s diverse community by providing free and equal access to resources, services and programs that encourage lifelong learning and lead to future success. Voted a “Best of 2016” library in Ventura County, the library welcomes more than 400,000 visitors per year; provides more than 500 programs for all ages each year; and offers a vibrant annual summer reading program. In addition to providing books, the Oxnard Public Library offers downloadable movies and music, e-books, DVDs, CDs, comic books, graphic novels and more.
