Oxnard resident taken into custody for firearm — Possession of Meth

sales arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On August 12, 2016 at approximately 6:36 P.M, a patrol officer, assigned to the Neighborhood Policing Team, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Commercial Ave and Oxnard Blvd. During a search of the vehicle using police K-9 Koa, two ounces of methamphetamine, four and a half grams of Heroin and drug sales paraphernalia was located in the vehicle. A .22 caliber handgun was also located in the vehicle. The driver, Marlow Hartson, a 53 year old Oxnard resident, is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms. Marlow was arrested and charged with various drug and firearms violations.
At the beginning of 2014, the Oxnard Police Department launched the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative, as well as the Firearms Strike Team (FAST), to proactively remove firearms from prohibited persons in the city. The objective of the initiative and FAST is to reduce gun violence in Oxnard through education, intervention and enforcement.
