Oxnard Revival Center attends Yucatan Cuisine and Heritage Night
On Friday December 16th, residents of Ventura County, dignitaries, and members of various organizations had the distinct privilege of learning the history behind Yucatan’s heritage and exquisite cuisine. Oxnard Revival Center had the honor of being an invited guest to this special event. An event coordinated and hosted by the Consulate of Mexico-Oxnard, the festivities were kicked off by the honorable Consul, Roberto Rodriguez Hernandez.
Ventura County Supervisor John Zaragoza and Port Hueneme Councilmember Jim Hensley
Guests enjoyed performances by Ballet Folclorico Nicte, as well as Ballet Folclorico del Mayab. This was followed by a presentation and description of the typical dresses and attire from Yucatan. Of course, the evening could have not been complete, had it not been for the delicious cuisine provided by “La Parrilla” in Ventura, California.
Catering was provided by restaurant owner, Victor Lopez, of La Parrilla Grill, who provided typical Yucatan dishes such as, Cochinita Pibil, Salbut, Flautas de Cochinita, Sopa de Lima, Arroz, Frijol, and Ensalada de Jicama. Other dishes shared on this occasion were Lechon and Aguas de Tamarindo and Horchata. Indeed an evening where the flavors of Yucatan cuisine made a strong presence and culminated this amazing evening of culture and heritage.

As if this wasn’t enough, guests were also treated to a display of everyday items provided by a local museum. Overall, the event provided an opportunity to experience Yucatan’s true value and riches.

Kudos to Claudia Luna and the rest of the Mexican Consulate team for a job well done and an unbelievable presentation.
