Oxnard Revival Center receives Grant for Beach and Park Clean Up — Roll up your sleeves!

Oxnard Revival Center teams up with Ventura County Public Health in a cigarette butt litter collection project around beaches and parks in Oxnard and Ventura. ORC was awarded a grant through VCPH, under the direction of Vicky Gonzales and Helen Tosh, and all efforts were made to execute a successful cleaning project in our beautiful cities. Approximately 15 young people and teens representing ORC came together on Saturday June 10th to make this possible.

The group of volunteers began the cleaning efforts at the Ventura Pier and completed the day at Mission Park in downtown Ventura. According to Mrs. Gonzales, over 1,000 cigarette butts were collected, among other tobacco products and trash. Additional cleaning efforts are scheduled to take place at Oxnard Mandalay Beach as well as Oxnard Durley Park in the upcoming weeks.

One of ORC’s youth leaders, Keziah Valenzuela, stated the following:

“I felt more a part of my community by helping to do something about these issues. It was rewarding to know that I helped our environment, even if in a small way. This is certainly the easiest way to make a difference. I also noticed a significant difference in comparison to other years, as far as the amount of butt litter collected. I truly believe ORC is imprinting our community in a big way by caring about these issues. “

The goal of Oxnard Revival Center is to continue this partnership with agencies and organizations throughout Ventura County for the betterment and improvement of our cities. And we are hoping we can count on the support of other local churches and surrounding leaders.

The Oxnard Revival Center church is reaching out to other churches, pastors, and leaders to join them in this effort to keep our cities clean and our communities safe.
