Oxnard to set Council recall election date on 1-23-18

A recall petition was initiated by Aaron Starr. 68,000 signatures were gathered for the recall of Mayor Flynn, Mayor Pro-Tem Carmen Ramirez, Councilmen Oscar madrigal and Bert Perello. Most signatures were verified and the city is now compelled to call a recall election, which will be addressed at the 1-23-18 meeting.
Initiators of the recall cited reasons as excessive utility rate increases and other dissatisfaction with Mayor Tim Flynn, Mayor ProTem Carmen Ramirez, Councilmen Bert Perello & Oscar Madrigal.

4. SUBJECT: Resolutions Ordering Recall Election. (5/10/10)
RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council:
1. Select a date for the special election and adopt a resolution calling and giving notice of a Special Municipal Election for the recall and election of candidates to fill vacancies should the recall prevail; and
2. Adopt a resolution establishing regulations for Candidate Statements to be printed in the Voter Information Guide.
