    Oxnard | Shooting leads to Man’s Death; Suspect Arrested

    UPDATE:

    At the beginning of the investigation, Jaime Villarreal, 43-year-old Hispanic male, Oxnard Resident was identified as the shooter by witnesses inside the residence.  After conducting a thorough investigation, Mr. Villarreal was arrested for the murder of the victim. Mr. Villarreal was booked into the Ventura County Jail on a bail amount of $500,000.

    DETAILS:

    On August 30, 2019, at about 11:30 P.M., patrol officers from the Oxnard Police Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the 1000 block of Berkshire Street for a report of a subject with a gunshot wound.  This was the second call for service to this location that night for a family dispute.

    When officers arrived, they located a 40-year-old Hispanic male with a wound to his chest.  Patrol officers began providing life-saving measures until it was safe for EMS to enter the scene.  Despite the heroic efforts of the officers and EMS, the victim died at the scene.  Patrol officers contacted and detained the suspected shooter, Jaime Villarreal without incident.

    The City of Oxnard offers a reward of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for committing homicides within the City.
