Oxnard: Suspect arrested and charged with Criminal Threats, Brandishing a Firearm & Kidnapping

On November 3, 2017, at 10:00 am, Oxnard police officers responded to the 800 block of S. ‘G’ Street regarding a brandishing of a firearm. Officers learned, 26 year old Oxnard resident, Juan Edward Ascencio, confronted the victim and threaten to shoot him. Ascencio led the victim at gunpoint to his vehicle. The victim quickly fled the area and called the police. The departments Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), K-9 Unit and Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) all responded. It was later determined that Ascencio had left the area. Phone contact was made with Ascencio and he was arrested without incident in the area of Fifth Street and Ventura Road. Ascencio was charged with Criminal Threats, Exhibiting Deadly Weapon (Firearm), and Kidnapping. Ascencio was subsequently booked into the Ventura County Jail.
