Oxnard | Suspect Arrested for Threatening Children with a Knife

On January 26, 2019, at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department were called to Adair Fields reference a subject with a knife threatening children playing in the park.

Officers attempted to contact Kevin Sagastume, a 27 year-old resident of Oxnard. Sagastume refused to comply with the officers and fled toward citizens playing softball on the north side of the park. Officers attempted to stop Sagastume before he could endanger the citizens by using multiple less-lethal force options. Sagastume was taken to the ground and into custody. During a search of Sagastume a 12 inch fixed blade knife was found in his waistband.

No citizens or officers were injured during the event.

Sagastume was arrested for a felony weapons charge as well as making criminal threats and resisting arrest.
