Oxnard | Update – Victim Found Dead After Altercation and Traffic Collision

Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release

The Oxnard Police Department has been able to gather further information regarding the altercation this past Wednesday night, July 1st, that left one man dead. The victim’s identity has also been discovered. He is Aldo Antonio Gonzalez, a 19 year old, Oxnard resident. At about 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, Oxnard Police officers responded to a call of a fight in the 300 block of Cuesta Del Mar, in the alley. It was also reported that there was a gunshot heard. Once emergency medical personnel arrived they pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene.

As investigators have continued to gather further evidence, it was discovered that Gonzalez and another male were in a vehicle together driving in the south alley of Cuesta Del Mar. While in the alley, both Gonzalez and the other male exited their vehicle and were confronted by a group of four unknown male subjects. A physical altercation ensued and during the melee and confusion, it appears that Gonzalez was struck by the vehicle that he had arrived in. Gonzalez was standing outside of the vehicle as it fled the area. It is the medical examiner’s opinion that Gonzalez died from blunt force trauma, likely caused by the traffic collision. Gonzalez was not shot, though evidence of a shooting was found.

Investigators are continuing to gather information on how the traffic collision occurred. Currently, this investigation is not being considered a homicide.
