At PAL National Boxing Championship in Oxnard!

Recreation Dept. head Terrel Harrison brought it to Oxnard years ago and has managed to keep this huge (over 200 matches), prestigious event right here in town.  The Recreation and Community Services Dept. hosts a fine event for PAL. You can still come and see for yourself!

Event runs until Friday at the old high school on K Street, across fro Fire Dept. HQ.

This week, Oxnard PAL will host one of the largest and most prestigious amateur boxing competitions in the country, the 43rd Annual National PAL Boxing Championships. More than 300 participants are expected to compete over four days, with bouts going simultaneously in three rings each evening.  All bouts are being streamed free on-line at for the families unable to travel with their athlete.

The event, which includes male and female participants ages 9 to 40, offers Novice and Open level divisions, showcasing both up-and-coming and elite level boxers from Ventura County and around the country.  This year, representatives from 12 states have registered so far with more arriving Monday and Tuesday.  Current participating states include: California, Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina, and Utah.

Doors open: 5 PM

Opening ceremonies: 5:30 PM

Bouts: 6 PM – 10PM (all start and end times are approximate)

**Semi-Finals / Prep and Junior Olympic Division Finals (ages 9-16)**

**Youth and Senior Division Finals (ages 17-40)**

General Admission: $10

Children ages 6 – 17: $5

Kids 5 and under: FREE

Ringside Seating: $20 per person
