Boris, whose owner recently passed away, was picked up by Paw Works’ employee Kaitlyn Greenelsh (above) after we received a call for help from a county shelter. Boris is now living with our wonderful foster coordinator, Diane Noda, who has given him a comfy bed and better yet, a permanent home!
.

When Paw Works received the call about Boris from Santa Barbara County Animal Services, we couldn’t say “no” to this sweet guy who’s been through so much. His traumatic story ends on a happy note, thanks to our very own foster coordinator, Diane Noda, who agreed to provide a loving “furever” foster home for Boris with her own two Doxies.
Boris was found in July when police responded to a call about an abandoned RV and found Boris sitting on the lap of his deceased elderly owner inside the RV, where he had been for an estimated two weeks.
He was quite dehydrated but appeared to be in decent health otherwise and was taken to Santa Barbara County Animal Services and examined by a vet. After the authorities determined there was no next of kin to take Boris, he became a Paw Works pup. Boris is estimated to be about 13 years old, and there is some concern about his liver function, so this week we scheduled an exam and follow up bloodwork for Boris.
But at this point, the prognosis seems good for this “happy go lucky” guy, who deserves a loving home. We are thankful to Santa Barbara Animal Services for rescuing him, and we’re especially grateful to Diane and her family for stepping up to take in this sweet boy.

Paw Works is a nonprofit animal rescue organization dedicated to partnering with county and city shelters to give abandoned animals a second chance at life.
Based in Southern California, our goal is to address animal overpopulation and abandonment through adoption, as well as education, awareness and community programs focused on spaying, neutering, training and veterinary care.
As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Paw Works relies exclusively on private donations and fundraising to fulfill its mission.
