Pedestrian hit and killed in Oxnard

Oxnard Police Department – Incident Press Release

On June 10, 2019, at about 12:50 A.M., patrol officers from the Oxnard Police Department along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the intersection of Thomas Ave and Saviers Road, in the City of Oxnard, regarding an injury traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.  EMS personnel arrived and transported a 45-year-old Filipino male to Ventura County Medical Center.  The male succumbed to his injuries.

Based upon preliminary investigation, the male was walking in a crosswalk across Saviers Road at the intersection with Thomas Ave.  A gray Scion XB was northbound on Saviers Road.  Witnesses stated that the Scion was passing through a green light and the pedestrian had walked against a red light when the vehicle struck him.  The driver of the Scion remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators.  Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.

Investigators are asking the public to come forward if anyone has witnessed this incident. The public is asked to contact Officer Mike Wood at (805) 385-7750.  You can remain anonymous if you choose to do so. You can also remain anonymous by calling the Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477. You can also visit this site: www.venturacountycrimestoppers.org to submit a tip via text or email.
