Simi Valley Police Department – Incident Press Release
On January 15th, 2021, at approximately 1833 hours, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to a traffic collision involving a pick-up truck and a pedestrian at First Street and Pacific Avenue. Upon arrival, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Simi Valley Police Department’s Traffic Bureau responded and took control of the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian attempted to cross First Street eastbound from the southwest corner of Pacific Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk. The pick-up truck ( 2019 Chevy Colorado) traveled northbound in the number two lane of First Street when it struck the pedestrian. The driver was cooperative with traffic investigators. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor on the part of the driver. The decedent is identified as John Andre Dupray, 69 years old, a Simi Valley resident. The driver is also a Simi Valley resident.
