Planned Parenthood to be protested Saturday

By George Miller

Longtime abortion opponents have now been joined by additional masses disgusted and outraged by the alleged revelations of the Center for Medical Progress videotapes of Planned Parenthood and StemExpress officials talking about selling baby parts from aborted fetuses, some claimed to be pulled out of wombs and cut up with hearts still beating- or sold intact.  Opponents plan to peacefully protest outside as many Planned Parenthood offices nationwide as possible from 9-11 am on Saturday, 8-22-15.

Organizers announced these two local events in the Events section:

So far, eight videos have been released by the group, some allegedly describing grisly actions and questionable dealings with parts of aborted fetuses, or “baby parts,” as pro-life forces describe them and even intact fetuses. One recent one includes a former PP employee who claims to have witnessed and even participated in what seem to be cruel, barbarous, even illegal actions, including selling baby parts without the mothers’ consent; that customized abortions are done with the expressed purpose of keeping certain organs intact for harvesting; that timing may be influenced also as a result. Later term abortion products can yield higher prices and be more desirable to recipients. The need for parts might even influence Planned Parenthood’s recommendations/pressure for women to have abortions and even when to have them. An 8th video just released seems to contain words indicating that intact fetuses are sold, to organizations such as StemExpress.

Excerpt from the article linked above:

“In the video, Cate Dyer, the CEO of StemExpress, is shown in a lunch meeting with undercover operatives posing as representatives of a biotech firm. Dyer is laughing about how StemExpress purchases fully intact aborted babies from Planned Parenthood. She laughs about how shippers of the aborted babies would give a warning to lab workers to expect such a baby.

“Oh yeah, if you have intact cases — which we’ve done a lot — we sometimes ship those back to our lab in its entirety,” she says.

“Tell the lab its coming,” she laughs about the intact unborn babies. “You know, open the box and go ‘Oh my God,’” Dyer adds.”

All this has resulted in a re-energized campaign to defund, restrict or even shut down Planned Parenthood, which performs nearly 1/3 of all abortions in the U.S.  To put that in perspective, that might include up to 15-18 million (now over 300,000 annually) of the approximately 55 million abortions performed since the Roe v Wade Supreme Court ruling “legalizing” abortion.

Pro-life forces believe that abortion is inherently evil because it entails the taking of life, which they believe is sacred. Many abortions kill beings which already have formed brains and other organs, beating hearts, functional nervous systems,  are sentient and can feel emotions and pain.

Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion allies have insisted that abortion, including late term and even post birth  procedures, is an ironclad right, as women have the right to control their own bodies; that it would be cruel to bring unwanted and unsupportable/unaffordable children into the world; that such population control is necessary for survival of the human race; that the “aborted products of conception” can be put to good use in research; that they aren’t being sold for profit, that no cruelty occurred and no laws were broken; that the unborn are not legal persons.

Pro-abortion forces want the Center for Medical Progress investigated for what they say is illegally recording the meetings.

Anti-abortion forces want the DOJ and other investigative/enforcement bodies to look into what they say are illegal activities by Planned parenthood.

Pro-abortion forces question the veracity of words spoken on the videos and the false pretenses of the interviewers.  PP claims that they do not receive government funding for abortions, but opponents point out that funding for other PP services and overhead frees up money for abortion-related services. The organization receives hundreds of millions of dollars annually from the federal government alone.

To clear up uncertainly and cut through the charges and counter-charges, official investigations- federal, state, county- as appropriate, would seem in order at this point.  The allegations and evidence so far produced are too serious to do otherwise. Either convict or exonerate.
