Pleasant Valley Road subject to one lane closures until bike lanes finished

ventura.county.logoVentura County Public Works Agency’s (VCPWA) Department of Transportation continues work to construct new bike lanes that will span five miles of Pleasant Valley Road, from Las Posas Road to the Pacific Coast Highway/Rice Avenue.

Daytime single-lane closure has taken effect until the project is finished. The scope of work includes road repair, slurry sealing, and striping. From Monday, April 7, until Friday, April 11, one lane of Pleasant Valley Road will be closed at all times and pilot cars with flagmen will be used. There will be a wait of 10 to 15 minutes due to this construction.

VCPWA Engineering Manager Glenn Derossett expects the new bike lanes will be finished by April 30.

1) Was there even a “Community Meeting,” like there was in Thousand Oaks before they austensibly stamped approval for this project?
2) who’s paying for it as compared to who’s going to use these bike lanes?
3) How much skin do the benefactors provide in Bicycle license fees and taxes on Bike equipment, compared to the non-bike lane using tax payers?

Just a few questions that the proponents of Bike Lanes never seem to have an answer for.
