Police & City Employees Volunteer at 6th Annual Salvation Army/Simi Valley PD Holiday Toy Drive Event

malady arial, cialis sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>December 17, unhealthy 2016, marked the 6th year for the Salvation Army/Simi Valley Police Department Holiday Toy Event that benefits local families. Simi Valley police and city employees volunteered their day to help Simi Valley families by handing out toys to over 300 less fortunate children. 30 lucky children also won a brand new bicycle during the holiday gift give away event, compliments of the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise.

In their ongoing partnership with the Salvation Army Simi Valley Food Bank and their new event partners, the Simi Valley Unified School District, police personnel and professional staff members from throughout the City joined together to help make this special holiday event a huge success. This year’s event was once again hosted at the Monte Vista School where Principal, Dr. Stephen Pietrolungo and Officer Don Anderson took turns playing the role of Santa this year. Dr. Pietrolungo and Officer Anderson along with some special elves from the Simi Valley Police Foundation Board of Directors helped spread holiday cheer to all of the children and their family members who were there to share in a special day.

Many of the toys were provided through the generosity of City of Simi Valley employees who selected a child’s name from an “Angel Tree” and then went shopping for their special holiday gifts. When all was said and done, the City employees had sponsored over 300 children. Additional toys were provided by the Simi Valley Police Foundation Touch-A-Truck Event which hosted a toy drive in support of the Salvation Army/Simi Valley Police Department Holiday Toy Event.

During the evening hours of December 17th, Santa, (Officer Anderson) and his volunteer Simi Valley Police Department, Ventura County Fire Department and Salvation Army Simi Valley Food Bank elves delivered bikes and holiday gifts to four local families. The four families were selected by the Salvation Army to have Santa personally deliver their gifts.

All of the families that participated in this year’s holiday event shared in a special celebration and reminded all of us how proud we are to be a part of such a great city. On behalf of the Simi Valley Police Department and all of our holiday toy event partners, we would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

A special thank you goes out to all of the supporters of this year’s event:
