Lifelong Oxnard resident Daniel Chavez Jr. has announced the launch of his campaign for Mayor of the City of Oxnard, to bring accountability and vision for the future to the city’s leadership.
Currently serving on the Oxnard Planning Commission to help shape responsible future development, Chavez has spent the last five years heavily involved in the community. He has been active in his neighborhood council, church, and other community organizations.
Born and raised in South Oxnard’s Bryce Canyon neighborhood, Chavez, 30, is the oldest of four boys in his family and the product of Oxnard public schools.
“I have lived in Oxnard my whole life, and I love this city,” Chavez said. “Now as a husband and father myself, I am proud to raise my children here in this hardworking, beautiful community. It would be an honor to serve my hometown as Mayor.”
In 2019, Chavez participated in the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious Oxnard Leadership Program. The 10-month program prepares future leaders by immersing them in local industries and institutions to examine Oxnard’s unique issues and opportunities.
“Besides the experience of growing up in Oxnard, the exposure I received in the Leadership Program helped open my eyes to even more possibilities for Oxnard,” Chavez said. “I feel well-equipped to bring realistic solutions to our challenges. Now’s The Time!”

- Oxnard’s Future and Energy.
