Port Huememe Councilman Tom Figg Will Not Seek Re-Election In November

By Tom Dunn

Port Hueneme Council Member Tom Figg

“Port Hueneme Council Member Tom Figg announced at tonight’s City Council meeting that he will not seek re-election in November. As many of you know, Mr. Figg is very opinionated on matters of community concern; he’s regularly volunteered his commentary for “Hello Port Hueneme” in critiquing Council meetings; and he’s promoted community engagement through televised Council meetings and establishment of a Community Advisory Commission.

In the few days leading up to his decision not to seek re-election, Council Member Figg offered Port Hueneme News the idea of broadcasting a series of videos to help frame short and long term challenges. This video series would also provide insight as to the inter-workings of local government, in particular, the interface and roles between the City Manager, City Attorney, City Staff and elected officials in crafting and implementing policy.

Port Hueneme News has accepted Member Figg’s offer and will provide a schedule of interview topics and dates in the coming weeks. Please keep in-tune to forthcoming announcements.
