Narrative:
Port Hueneme Police have launched a hate crime investigation after finding a swastika spray
painted inside a vehicle that was broken into in the parking lot of a business in the 500 block of
East Surfside Drive.
The vandal(s) are believed to have spray painted the swastika sometime between 3pm on
Thursday, January 20th to when it was discovered at 9am on Friday morning. The incident was
reported to Port Hueneme Police on Tuesday, January 25th. The vehicle was parked in a
gated parking lot near the business.
There are no suspects identified at this time, however, Port Hueneme Police are still
investigating. Crimes of this nature are disturbing and will not be tolerated by our Police
Department. Spray painting a swastika is not a joke or a silly prank, it is considered a Hate
Crime under the California Penal Code. Our agency will continue to investigate this crime to
the fullest extent. We want to make our residents aware of this incident and reassure them
there has not been a pattern of similar crimes reported in our City. If you have any information
