Port Hueneme Police Department Incident Release
On April 19, 2021, at approximately 9:27 PM the Port Hueneme Dispatch Center received multiple calls in regards to a traffic collision that occurred near the intersection of North Ventura Road and East Pleasant Valley Road. Initial calls indicated that a vehicle had struck several bicyclists near the intersection and fled the scene. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and located three, male, teenage victims all suffering from significant injuries. The victims were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The second victim suffered major injuries and is currently in critical condition. The third victim has significant injuries to his lower body and is also currently hospitalized.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was later found abandoned in the 500 block of East Clara Street in the City of Port Hueneme. The suspect was identified as Samuel Rocha, a 28-year-old Port Hueneme Resident. Rocha later turned himself in to police and was taken into custody.
The investigation is in its preliminary stages and Rocha has subsequently been charged with one count of 187 PC Murder, and two counts of 664 / 187 PC Attempt Murder. If anyone has information about this incident please contact the Port Hueneme Police Department at 805-986-6530.
