Port Hueneme | Foot Pursuit Arrest Lead to Stolen Vehicle

Port Hueneme Police Department Incident

On Sunday June 22^nd , 2020 at 2:30 AM, Officers from the Port Hueneme Police Department were patrolling the Hueneme Bay Community in the area of Bowling Green and Triton.  They observed a male subject riding a bicycle through the residential area and attempted to make contact with him for several vehicle code violations.

The subject abandoned his bicycle and fled from officers on foot.  During the foot pursuit the suspect began discarding numerous items of personal property.  After being apprehended, the suspect was identified as 35-year-old Jacob Perryman, out of Camarillo.  Perryman was attempting discard a backpack that contained various burglary tools.  A records check revealed he had two misdemeanor arrest warrants.

Officers checked the area for additional items the suspect may have left behind and they located a vehicle parked in a red zone within the community.  This vehicle had additional items of property lying next to it and it appeared as if it were a stolen vehicle.  The owner of the vehicle was contacted and the investigation revealed it was an unreported stolen vehicle out of Oxnard.  During the investigation Officers were able to link property found inside the vehicle to Perryman. 

In addition to the arrest warrants, Perryman was charged with 148(a)(1) PC – Resisting Arrest, 10851 VC – Stolen Vehicle, 466 PC – Burglary Tools, 530.5(c)(1) PC – Identity Theft, 459 PC – Burglary, 11377(a) HS – Narcotics Possession and 135 PC – Destroying Evidence.   He was later transported to the Ventura County Main Jail.
