Port Hueneme Police Department – Incident Press Release

On May 18, 2017 at 9:05 a.m., officers from the Port Hueneme Police Department conducted a probation search of a residence, located in the 1500 block of North 7th Place in the City of Port Hueneme.

The officers had confirmed information that two(2) of the residents were on probation for both narcotic and theft convictions.  They were identified as Noe Moreira, age 29, and his girlfriend, Nichole De La Cerda, age 23.

The officers were allowed into the residence by another resident and made contact with Moreira and De La Cerda who were both still asleep in their bedroom.  Also in the bedroom was their 2 year old son, crawling on the floor next to the bed.

The officers saw the 2 year old baby crawling on the floor next to a used methamphetamine glass pipe.   The officers also noticed a dresser drawer wide open which the small child had complete access.  In the lower dresser drawer were several used syringes for heroin use.  A couple of the syringes did not have safety caps, exposing the needles.

The officers arrested Moreira and De La Cerda for being under the influence of narcotics, possession of narcotics, (Methamphetamine) possession of drug paraphernalia and for felony child endangerment.

Moreira and De La Cerda were later taken to the Ventura County jail with bail set at $50,000.  The child was placed in the custody of Children’s Family Services.
