    Port Hueneme | Suspect arrested in Residential Burglary

    Port Hueneme Police Department – Incident Press Release

    On January 23, 2020 at 3:30 PM, Officers from the Port Hueneme Police Department responded to a residential burglary in progress in the 2600 Block of Amy Place.   

    The resident, a 20-year-old female was in her bedroom when she heard voices from at least two subjects in the living room and discovered that they were in the process of stealing property. 

    When officers arrived, they located one suspect in Bolker Park adjacent to a walkway which leads to Amy Place.  The suspect had numerous items of property on the grass he was trying to pick up. 

    When the suspect saw the officers approaching, he fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.    The suspect, Christian Mendoza, an 18-year-old Oxnard resident was arrested for first degree residential burglary, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. 

    The resident was very shaken up by the ordeal but was not injured.  Mendoza was taken to the Ventura County Jail where bail was set at $50,000.
