Port Hueneme: Alleged Sexual Predator taken into custody

Port Hueneme Police Department – Incident Press Release  

On April 5, 2017, at approximately 8:45 a.m., Port Hueneme Police Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of North Sixth Place reference a call of a suspicious subject jumping fences and running through the backyards of several residences in the neighborhood. The subject was described as a male fleeing northbound through backyards and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The victim was contacted and reported to officers that she was inside of her bedroom when she heard the sound of her bedroom window being slowly opened. The victim went to the window, drew back the curtain and discovered a male standing outside of the window looking in.

As the victim was alerting a family member, the owner of the residence exited through a side door and confronted the subject. The suspect attempted to hide and was last seen jumping over the side fence, fleeing northbound through adjacent backyards .A subject matching the description was located and detained by officers searching the area. An infield line-up was conducted and he was positively identified by the victim and owner of the residence as the person attempting to enter their home.

The suspect was identified as Guillermo Damaso, 39 years of age from Oxnard. A records check revealed Damaso was on active probation for weapons and narcotic violations and had an outstanding arrest warrant from the State of Florida for indecent exposure to minors and adults. Damaso has been previously deported twice, once from the State of Florida and once from the State of California. During his interview, the suspect indicated he illegally entered the country yesterday via a “coyote”.

Damaso was arrested and booked for violation of 664/459 PC – Attempted Burglary and subsequently transported to Ventura County Jail.
