Port Hueneme Police Department – Incident Press Release
On January 8, 2020 at 11:25 a.m., officers from the Port Hueneme Police Department responded to an attempted strong-arm robbery in the 200 Block of Ocean Walk Court. The suspect had confronted a resident and attempted to take his car keys from him.
While responding, officers received an additional call in the 300 Block of East Scott Street which is located one block north of the first call. A suspect matching the same description was attempting to take a vehicle from a resident. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a blue Superman shirt with a star tattoo on his face.
The suspect was unsuccessful in both crimes. Witnesses in the area were able to provide police with the suspect’s last direction of travel. Officers located and stopped the suspect while he was walking in front of the Port Hueneme Police Station in the 200 Block of North Ventura Road.
Suspect David Lumas, 31 years of age from Oxnard, was arrested for attempted robbery and attempted auto theft. Lumas was additionally charged with a residential burglary he had committed at approximately 9:00 am in the 4700 Block of South G Street in the City of Oxnard.
Lumas, who was out on parole for 212.5 PC – First Degree Robbery, was transferred to the Ventura County Jail where he is being held without bail. Lumas is also on probation for 484(a) PC – Petty Theft.
