Port Hueneme | Two Shooting Victims/ Shooting Into an Inhabited Dwelling

Port Hueneme Police Department – Incident Press Release

At approximately 10:15 p.m., the Port Hueneme Police Department received a call of a shooting victim in front of Fire Station 53 located at 304 North Second Street. The female caller indicated a young child had been shot along with an adult victim. When officers arrived on scene, it was discovered the shooting had occurred in the 100 blk of East Pearl Street. Due to a lack of response from the fire station and the severity of the child’s injuries, police officers rushed the victim to the Ventura County Medical Center.

Officers responded to the area of the crime scene and located multiple shell casings in the street along with numerous bullet strikes to the victim’s residence. Port Hueneme Police Detectives are currently on scene and being assisted by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit.

The young female child who is believed to be approximately 7 years old is currently listed in critical condition. The adult female suffered a single gunshot wound and was treated by fire personnel at the scene and was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. She is currently listed in stable condition. In spite of numerous gunshots being fired during this incident in this normally quiet neighborhood, not a single call for service was received regarding gunfire. People in the neighborhood were under the belief that the gunfire were illegal fireworks being emitted in the area.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Frank Torpey at 805-986-6578 or [email protected].
