AT PLANNED PARENTHOOD CANOGA PARK 8/22/15

My name is Veronica Giron and I am a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Canoga Park. This past Saturday a total of 150 people gathered between 8:45 am to 11:15 am to protest outside the Planned Parenthood in our neighborhood, at 21001 Sherman Way. This facility provides contraceptives and medical abortions up to 9 weeks (allegations have been made that they have gone past the 10 week mark). Our community has had a hard time involving themselves in supporting the efforts of our pro life team (consisting of my husband Jorge Giron, the Cantor Family, the Paniagua Family and Doña Marta Guadalupana), however when we helped them see and understand the videos which were released in the past weeks, they seemed to receive the message. Our babies are being slaughtered and Sold without our consent.

We asked different leaders to join in the fight on 8/22. After much opposition and uncertainty, the ones who heard the calling stepped up.
The Guadalupanas led by Lucila started off our protest with The Rosary, incorporating prayers for the unborn and the injustice of abortion. During the rosary, in between mysteries the DANZA AZTECA OF OLV led by Fabian  joined in dancing in reverence to our Mother of Guadalupe, who appeared to the Indigenous community in Mexico and has been proclaimed Queen of the Americas and Protector of the Unborn. They dance in honor of her with traditional Aztec Warrior dances. After completing the Rosary, our next performers continued to uplift the protestors. The Prayer Group of Our Lady of the Valley Church, led by our brother Manuel, sang praises to our savior in Spanish. Manuel and his choir uplifted the protesters of all ages and background.

Our Anglo protesters loved the tunes and even if they could not understand the words, they said they felt the presence of the Holy Spirit through them. After rejoicing in praise, Aura, member of the prayer group of Saint John Eudes in Chatsworth did a reflection of the word of God, emphasizing the urgency to protect all children of God  and defend the unborn and their mothers. One of the high points of her lecture was to encourage the crowed to take the pro-life message beyond the protest and inspired by our very Own Pope Francis “Agan Lio” which encourages us all to go out to the streets and bring the truth of the Gospel to our brother and Sisters who have not heard. Using scripture, she was able to make this struggle our own.

For those Latino Catholics on the fence who attended there was no doubt that indeed The Lord wants us to step forward and defy society by staying true to the nature that God gave us. Defunding. Planned Parenthood is necessary, as it is against our Doctrine to support anything that violates our morality. After she did her reflexion, we took a walk down the sidewalk where we went to the other corner where we stood chanting pro-life slogans and inviting others to join us. We specified that the entire woman’s right (of “choice”)  issue is a myth and that we as a community need to go back to the basics, where a woman’s greatest asset was being a mother and a man her protector. Our closing prayer soon came, where Aura  consecrated all the unborn children aborted -who have been murdered in the Canoga Park location-  by naming the boys Jesus and the Girls Mary. Veronica translated this prayer and the non Spanish speaking protesters were able to uplift their prayer as well.

We concluded by counting 24 seconds of our base player playing to resemble a heart beat where in silence we were able to understand and feel the pain of our children’s beating hearts who even though were murder, still seek for justice through us.

It was a powerful experience. Many woman cried as they reveal they themselves have even victims of this crime. The Holy Spirit touched many hearts and we pray that it continues to drive them to defend life at any cost.
