Public invited to provide input on options for marijuana regulations in the City of Ventura

The City of Ventura is hosting a community meeting to present options, and listen to the public’s input, on marijuana regulations for our community. The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 28 at 6pm in the Community Meeting Room at City Hall, 501 Poli Street.

California voters approved the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA), also known as Proposition 64, in the 2016 General Election legalizing the use of nonmedical or recreational marijuana. Due to the changes at the state level, AUMA will have an impact on our community and the City may need to modify zoning regulations, permitting, enforcement and taxation related to marijuana.  During the community meeting, the public will be asked to weigh in on options for issues such as marijuana storefronts, delivery services, cultivation, facilities, taxes and other concerns. The public input will be taken into consideration and presented to the City Council at a public meeting on October 9, 2017.

Citizens who cannot attend the meeting can provide their input by emailing [email protected]. Attendees are encouraged to read the City’s previous actions taken with regard to the regulation of medical marijuana and the FAQ’s on the City’s website.
