Public workshop and hearing for City of Oxnard fiscal year 2016-2017 operating budget

clinic arial, vialis 40mg sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>The Oxnard City Council will hold a workshop for the City’s recommended fiscal year 2016-2017 operating budget Tuesday, June 14, 2016, and Wednesday, June 15, 2016. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at the City Council Chambers, 305 W. Third St. The public is encouraged to attend the workshop to learn about the budget process and how City funds are allocated.

On June 14, 2016, the City Council will hear presentations from the following departments: Police, Fire, Development Services, City Manager’s Office, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Economic Development, Housing and Cultural and Community Services. Additionally, the City Council will hear a presentation on Measure “O” and other funds.

On June 15, 2016, the City Council will hear presentations from the City Attorney, City Clerk, City Treasurer and Public Works-General Services. The discussion on the three utilities – solid waste, water and wastewater – is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.

In addition to the budget workshop, the City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday, June 21, 2016, to give the community an opportunity to provide input and ask questions about the proposed budget. The hearing will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 305 W. Third St.

The public can access copies of the recommended fiscal year 2016-2017 operating budget during regular business hours at the following locations starting Friday, June 10, 2016, at 10 a.m.:

  • City Clerk’s Office, 300 W. Third St., 4th Floor
  • Downtown Main Library, 251 S. A St.
  • South Oxnard Branch Library, 4300 Saviers Rd.

The public can also view the recommended budget on the City’s website at www.oxnard.org. Community members who do not have internet access can use the computers at Oxnard’s three library branches at no charge.

For members of the public who cannot attend the budget hearing, it is recommended that their written comments reach the City Clerk’s Office, 300 W. Third St., 4th Floor, no later than 5 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2016. Comments can also be submitted by email to [email protected]rd.org.

The budget workshop and hearing will be broadcast live on Oxnard CityWatch Television. Time Warner Cable subscribers can watch the meetings on Channel 10, and Frontier Communications customers can tune in to Channel 35. The meetings will also be live streamed on the City’s website at www.oxnard.org.
