According to the study, “21st Century Precipitation Changes Over the Los Angeles Region,” the total amount of precipitation in the area is not expected to change much throughout the century, but increased temperatures due to human-caused climate change means a greater portion of that precipitation will fall as rain instead of snow.”
We are being warned that we are not going to get a lot of water over the next 100 years. Government and academics will call that a drought. Technically, it is a drought. That does not mean we do not have the ability to meet the water needs of our population—which grew by over 300,000 in the past year. Even that is misleading.
The reason for our “growth” is because the number of deaths were much less, while births declined. But, with open borders, our illegal alien population grew. On the other side of the ledger, California had a net migration of 98,000 people. The most productive of our middle class have left. This is making the former Golden State look more like India—a two caste State, the rich, the poor—and the illegal alien.
The question should not be are we in a drought. The real question is, are the government policies causing the lack of water?
Would we have enough water if we protected humans more than we protect fish?

Finally, due to the crisis, desalinization plants are beginning to open. It will take a decade to meet our needs, if government allowed the environmental rules to be realistic. For instance environmentalists tell us that if we desalinize water, it will heat up the ocean and kill the fish. Did you know that most of the water in Israel is from such plants?
Our confused governor wants to spend at least $68 billion to create a Delta Tunnel, to move water from the north to the south. No new water, just a reposition of the water. Instead, 20 or more desalinization plants could be built. Al Gore says climate change is going to cause the ocean to flood the California coast. These plants would move the water in an orderly fashion instead. A win-win.
On January 1, 2015—just a couple of weeks from now, the State will takeover control of the groundwater in the State. Money to clean the groundwater will come from the just passed Prop.1 water bond. Billions in that bond will be used to steal private land to create more wetlands. It claimed that they will build a couple of dams—except they also know that environmental rules will prohibit the building of another larger than a bath tub.
Maybe if the water bond was to be used for dams, that would save the water needed.
One more item of waste. Every day millions of acre feet of water flow into the ocean instead of being captured and saved. This is an important source of water—yet government policies continue to stop the preservation of this vital source of water.
As a people we need to stop complaining about the drought. We need to demand sound, responsible water policies to provide the water that is available. My Holiday wish is that government will end its water policies and start new policies promoting water for people.
