Representative Brownley To Visit Health Centers Across Ventura County

BrownleyJuliaTo mark National Health Center Week, Representative Julia Brownley plans to visit three area clinics.  National Health Center Week recognizes the efforts of over 8200 clinics across the nation that offer services to their communities regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.

Their largest supporter is McKesson, a multi-billion dollar supplier of pharmaceuticals at a wholesale level and providing health information technology, medical supplies, and care management tools.

On August 15th, Brownley will visit:

Family Medicine Residency and Specialty Care Center

TIME:      10:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.

PLACE:   Family Medicine Residency and Specialty Care Center

This multi-specialty center is located on the campus of Ventura County Medical Center and is part of the County health care system.

Clinicas Del Camino Real    

TIME:     1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.

                 Oxnard, CA 93030

Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc. has been providing primary and preventative health care services to the residents of Ventura County since 1971. Starting as a “free clinic” in Santa Paula, California, Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc., which is privately held and employs 230 people, now operates eleven health center locations and takes all forms of government subsidies in addition to offering a sliding scale for payment depending on the patient’s income and family size.

Planned Parenthood:            

TIME:     2:30 P.M. – 3:30 P.M.

Operated by Planned Parenthood of Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo Counties they offer a variety of services, including abortion, STD screening and breast exams in addition to mammogram referrals.  They have a $15,306,899 budget with 63% coming from the Family PACT (State Family Planning Funding), 12% from Medi-Cal, 1% from private insurance and 13% from contributions and grants. As of this writing, none of the three congressmen, Brownley (D), Capps (D) or McKeon (R), representing Ventura County have confirmed any Townhall meetings with their constituents.

    Do you happen to know if they offer discount tickets for seniors? Or if they have a shuttle service available for seniors to use to reach the location where Congresswoman Brownley will speak next?

      As far as we know, it was free. Visits are already done, but Rep. Brownley will be holding constituent meetings at farmer’s markets in VC this week. Watch for announcements on
