Rotary member to gift club with $50,000 this Tuesday in honor of his brother’s memory

rotaryOn Tuesday, June 24, 2014 The Simi Valley “Noontime” Rotary Club will receive a generous donation from one of its members of 12 years, Dan Rosen and his family.  They will be giving a charitable donation of $50,000.00,  unanticipated to the club, by Dan Rosen, local community leader and will be presented to the current President John Lindsay. The meeting is at 12:00pm (noon) at The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center located at 3050 Los Angeles Avenue, Simi Valley, CA.

The Rosen Family has lived in Simi Valley since 1957. Dan, the youngest of five children in the Rosen family, and being a well established local Real Estate Agent and Manager of the Arena Bar and Grill, is constantly giving exceedingly to the community hosting fundraisers for local residents and organizations, and providing a place to play for bands to perform and gather followings.  As Dan Rosen asserts “My brother Phil Rosen died of Aids 20 years ago. He had set up a charitable trust that had to be dissolved after 20 years. He died June 13, 1994.   My family had to donate the money in his honor to a good charity.  I knew and have been part of the best charitable organization in Simi Valley, the Rotary,  and knew this was the right decision.”  Their decision to give back to their community is on-going with the Rosens, and that has meant so much to them.

“I love The Rotary Club.  We had a rough time after the Fireworks show last year that the Rotary always sponsors for Simi Valley. The club stuck together through all the troubles and we are going to make sure Simi Valley has a great 4th of July Fireworks’ show again this year.” notes Dan Rosen.   “My Mom, Frances Rosen let me decide where the trust money was allocated.  I knew the best organization that helps many in Simi Valley was the Simi Valley Rotary and the money would be well spent.”

Rosen and his mother will surprise the Rotary club at the meeting Tuesday at Noon with the charitable donation.

The Rotary, established in Simi Valley in 1963, impact starts with the members—people who work tirelessly with the club to solve some of our communities’ toughest challenges. Their efforts are supported by Rotary International, a member association, and The Rotary Foundation, which turns generous donations into grants that fund the work of members and partners around the world.  Local fundraisers include the annual Fourth of July Celebration for the City of Simi Valley, Softball Tournament, Breakfast at the Senior Center, and Box City.  This year will be the Simi Valley Rotary’s 45th annual 4th of July celebration.   They are business professionals from many different business categories;  CPA’s, CFP’s,  Dentists, Attorneys, Physicians, Auto Technicians, and Construction professionals,  just to name a few. Rotary is led by members—responsible leaders who help to carry forward our organization’s mission and values in their elected roles.

Very few take such a role in society today, yet those who do, mean so much to the success and drive of a community.  Notice should be taken and shared of those willing to give back or pay it forward, such as this family has done.
