Santa Paula Police Department – Incident Press Release
On 09-23-20 at approximately 5:53 PM, Santa Paula Police Officers responded to an injury traffic collision between a bicyclist and a sedan. The bicyclist, a male juvenile (16), collided with the sedan in the roadway and sustained critical injuries. He was transported by ambulance to VCMC in Ventura for emergency treatment and later to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Sadly, the male juvenile succumbed to his injuries and passed away on 09-30-20. On Wednesday 9/23/20 at approximately 5:53 pm officers responded to the 100 block of W. Santa Barbara Street regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision. Officers arrived and discovered a 16 year old male had been struck while riding his bicycle. The victim received major injuries and was transported to VCMC where he was reported to be in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperative with investigators. Driver impairment does not appear to be a factor in the traffic collision at this time.
The SPPD is currently investigating with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol.
