Santa Paula announces public workshops to update City’s General Plan

The City of Santa Paula Planning Department today announced the first in a series of workshops related to the city’s General Plan Update, a two-year process aimed at addressing the issues facing the city for the next 20 to 25 years.

Community members attending the workshop will be able to comment on and discuss various elements of the General Plan, including choices about the use of land, development of new housing, public and human services, protection of environmental resources, and allocation of city funds.

“The General Plan is the fundamental policy document of the city, so our hope is to gain as much information from citizens as possible in these meetings, to properly address their needs and concerns,” said Janna Minsk, Santa Paula Planning Director. “This is truly a community-driven process,” noted Minsk.

The first workshop is scheduled for November 19, 2015, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Community Center, 530 W. Main Street, in Santa Paula. Tables will be laid out according to issue areas in a drop-in fashion, and community members can visit as many tables as they wish. Light refreshments will be provided, and children are welcome.
