    Santa Paula | Attempted Robbery on Montebello St.

    Santa Paula Police Department – Incident Press Release

    On Monday September 28, 2020 at approximately 9:25am officers responded to the 1100 block of Montebello St. for an unknown type disturbance and report of a shot being fired. Officers arrived and contacted the victim who informed them two male Hispanic subjects had approached him demanding money. Shortly thereafter a fight ensued. During the fight one of  the  suspects produced a handgun and fired one round into the air. The two suspects are described as follows: S-1 tall, approx. mid 20’s, wearing dark clothing and S-2 with gun short, approx. mid 20’s, black shirt and blue jeans. The two suspects then fled southbound into the riverbed. An anonymous person reported one of the suspects entered a silver Chevrolet Blazer and drove northbound on 12th Street. The same anonymous person also reported the second suspect fleeing southbound into the riverbed.

    SPPD requested the assistance of a helicopter from Ventura County Sheriff’s Department who also responded with 3 additional deputies that included a K-9. A search of the area of was conducted using the VCSO K-9 as well as SPPD K-9 “Ace”. During the search several subjects were  contacted but were found not to be the suspects. One subject contacted was found to have an active misdemeanor warrant and was taken into custody without incident.

    The Santa Paula Police Department would like to thank the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance. The SPPD is currently investigating.
