Officer Raad
Chief McLean introduced Santa Paula Police Department’s newest officer, Ramsey Raad, to the City Council at their September 15th meeting. Raad was born in Beirut Lebanon and started working in law enforcement in 2006 with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. He then attended the Police Academy, worked for Ventura PD beginning in 2009 and is now serving on the Santa Paula Police force. He’s been with them three weeks now.
Brian Yanez, Santa Paula Interim Public Works Director
The Council also heard an update on the new sewer and water rates from interim Public Works Director Brian Yanez. The department has been holding public meetings and receiving input. “Our goal is to have these water and sewer rates implemented by January 2015.”
The only public speaker on this item was former Ventura County Transportation Director, Ginger Gherardi, a Santa Paula resident. She noted the high rates paid by some of the residents. She asked: “Have your staff look at the connection fees and what really goes to capacity.” She feels once they have been looked at they will find there has been over-payments to hook up to the city’s services. Those over-payments should be refunded to the residents.
