In the Presentation segment of the meeting, Chief McLean presented five promotions to members of the Santa Paula Police Explorers, a team which has grown to 17 in three years, according to the Chief.

The promotions were as follows:

  • Sergio Gutiérrez to Captain (the highest Explorer rank)
  • Daniela Topete to Sargeant
  • Christian Cervantes to Sargeant
  • Julia Reyes to Senior Explorer
  • Gabriela Bermudez to Senior Explorer

The ceremony involved a “pinning” which was performed by a family member or loved one and a post-pinning promotion photo.

In another presentation, Ed Mount, director of the Santa Paula Community Services, recognized Dan Garcia for his work at the Harding Park Caretaker. Mr. Garcia, a former State Park Supervisor, has lived on the property since 1990 and takes care of everything except the field itself. Santa Paula is lucky to have found someone with Mr. Garcia’s experience.  His family and friends celebrated with Mr. Garcia in the following picture.
