Family Disturbance/Arrest-Obstruct or resist executive officer
On 08/13/2020 at approximately 3:53 AM, Officers were dispatched to 232 S. Palm Avenue unit B for a family disturbance.
While in route to the call, the reporting party advised the disturbing party 25 year old Santa Paula resident, Pedro Diaz, is possibly under the influence of drugs, vandalizing property inside the residence and became aggressive towards his father. Diaz was contacted by Officers in the front patio area of the residence.
Diaz was asked to sit down on a chair in which he complied. While Officers were talking to Diaz, he appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, his speech was incoherent and he kept mumbling to himself. Shortly after talking with Diaz, he got up from the chair and stood in the driveway. For reasons unknown, Diaz ran down the driveway towards the street and jumped onto the roof of a parked vehicle. Officers repeatedly told Diaz to get down in which he refused to do so. After about a 20 minute stand-off, Diaz jumped down and charged at Officers with closed fists. Fearing Diaz was going to physically harm the Officers, a TASER device was used to gain control and take him into custody.
Diaz was medically cleared and lodged into the Ventura County Jail.
