Santa Paula Police Department – Incident Press Release
On 10-29-20 at approximately 08:48 AM, a female contacted the SPPD via 911 and advised her former boyfriend was at her residence and had struck her.
She said the male, identified as Dominic Diaz, broke a window from the outside and struck her with a sharpened stick, causing an injury to her hand with bleeding. Officers arrived and the suspect, Diaz, fled westbound on Pleasant Ave. Officers established a perimeter and an SPPD K-9 unit responded.
With the assistance of the Ventura County Sheriff Department air unit Diaz was tracked to the backyard of a residence near Teague and McKevett. Diaz refused to obey Officers’ commands. The K-9 and a Taser were deployed. Diaz was taken into custody. He was charged with 245 PC Assault With a Deadly Weapon, 459 PC Burglary, and 148(a)(1) PC Resisting or Obstructing. Diaz was treated at Santa Paula ER and transported to the Ventura County Main Jail.
