Santa Paula inmate at Todd Road Jail dies

On January 24, 2016, at approximately 11:25 a.m., 44 year old Jose Bautista suffered a medical emergency at the Todd Road Jail Facility. Deputies and jail medical staff responded immediately and rendered aid. Bautista was transported to St. John’s Hospital by ambulance. He was pronounced dead on 1/24/16 at 12:35 p.m. by hospital staff.
The cause of death is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau, pending an autopsy by the Medical Examiner. There was no indication of violence or suspicious circumstances. As a matter of policy and procedure, all inmate deaths are investigated by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau.
