Santa Paula, CA – The shorter days and changing leaves of the Fall season typically signals excitement for a return to school, friends and the impending holiday season starting with Halloween celebrations. Although this year is drastically different from previous years due to the coronavirus pandemic, the City of Santa Paula is excited to offer residents brand new ways of safely celebrating the holidays this Fall.
In place of the City’s annual Halloween Carnival, Santa Paulans will be able to experience a spooktacular Halloween Drive-Thru! Local Santa Paula businesses and community organizations will bewitch the Harding Park parking lot and transform it into a series of fang-tastic Halloween themed scenes. Residents will be able to stop in for a spell and enjoy the scenes from the comfort and safety of their own vehicles. At the end of the drive-thru, attendees will be able to cast their vote for their favorite and spookiest Halloween scene and receive a free treat bag (while supplies last).
The Halloween Drive-Thru is scheduled for Friday, October 30 from 5pm to 8pm. The Harding Park parking lot, where the event will take place, is located on Harvard Boulevard next to the Boys and Girls Club. Santa Paulans are encouraged to check out this fun video created by the City’s Parks and Recreation team to learn more about the event. Additionally, the City has updated and modified its
recreational and holiday classes to ensure Santa Paulans
of all ages can safely come together to learn new skills and
celebrate the season.
For example, on October 8th, Santa Paulans learned how to craft their very own pumpkinshaped serving tray out of wood. Then, on October 12 during the Halloween Trio Workshop, attendees learned how to make a fun Halloween decoration featuring a friendly cat, pumpkin and ghost trio.
Upcoming recreational and holiday classes include:
Youth Classes
• Folklorico (ages 7-17): Learn the fundamentals of the Mexican folk dancing tradition, how to keep rhythm and choreography.
• Gymnastics (ages 3-13): Have fun and improve your balance, coordination, agility and flexibility!
• Hip Hop (ages 7-15): Get your body moving with Hip Hop Mindset in a fun and energetic hip hop class.
10/8 Pumpkin Serving Tray Workshop
• Jazz (ages 6-12): Learn fun and trendy dance steps that are used in all forms of dance!
• Model Car Class: Construct, assemble and paint your very own plastic model vehicle.
• Canvas Painting: Follow along to create different canvas paintings while using various art techniques.
Adult and Senior Classes
• Canvas Painting (ages 18+): Learn how to use various art techniques and best practices and follow along to create your very own canvas masterpiece; this course is more advanced than the youth program version!
• Senior Chair Yoga (ages 55+): Strengthen your mind and body with adapted and modified yoga techniques
• Christmas Tree Class: It’s never too early to start planning for Christmas! Learn to make a freestanding milk-painted wooden Christmas tree!
These activities and events will all take place at the Santa Paula Community Center, located at 530 West Main Street. Each class will have physical distancing measures in place and requires attendees to wear a face covering at all times. In accordance with COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, surfaces will also be wiped down regularly and frequent handwashing will be encouraged.

Estas actividades y eventos se llevarán a cabo en el Centro Comunitario de Santa Paula, ubicado en 530 West Main Street.
