Santa Paula PD reminds residents possession of fireworks illegal in City

pill arial, medical sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>The Fourth of July holiday is approaching and the Santa Paula Police Department would like the public to have a safe and enjoyable holiday.  The city does recognize that fireworks are sold in the adjacent City of Fillmore.  It should also be recognized that fireworks are legal to use in the City of Fillmore during the specified time established by their city guidelines.  However the police department would like to remind the citizens that firework possession and/or use in the City of Santa Paula is illegal.  Depending on the severity of the violation, subjects can be issued a citation or arrested.

Another issue that arises during the Fourth of July are people using firearms to celebrate.  The discharge of a firearm in a neighborhood is a crime and could be classified as a misdemeanor or felony.

If you would like to attend a fireworks celebration the city is hosting a free fireworks displacy at Harding Park on July 4th at approximately 9pm.  Harvard Blvd. will be closed at 5pm to vehicle traffic between Ventura Street and Telegraph Road.  No alcohol or personal fireworks, including sparklers, will be allowed at this event.  Santa Paula Police and Fire will be on scene for the event.
