    Santa Paula: Public Works 2020 Q1 Report

    FY 2019-2020 Pavement and Slurry Seal

    In what can only be described as counter-intuitive, the City is planning to spend $1.4 million to upgrade streets in areas where the streets are still workable. The theory is that if this work is done, then they will last longer and be less expensive to repair than the streets in dire need (Dean, Teague, McKevett).

    The map below shows the two areas planned for 2020:

    Director Saunier presented highlights of the past 90 days. The complete work included:

    -Neighborhood Safety Improvement Project at Santa Paula High School
    -10th Street Pedestrian Bike Improvements
    -Peck Road Pavement Improvement
    -2018-2019 Pavement and Slurry Seal Projects
    -Repaired 86 sewer leaks
    -Fleet Division serviced 170 inspections for 70 vehicles
    -Sold $414,820 in surplus vehicles, including the old firetruck which paid off its loan
    -Filled 345 potholes consuming 32 tons of asphalt
    -Moved 64 homeless camps/dumpsites

    Future Projects

    The following projects are in some state of continuation from previous periods.

    -Palm Court Sewer and Water Main Replacement
    -City Sidewalk Improvement Program
    -Harvard Boulevard Street/Sewer/Water Improvement
    -Crosstown water pipeline
    -Mesa Tank Study and Replacement
