Santa Paula routine Traffic Stop leads to Arrest for Drugs with help of K9

On 09/07/16 at approximately 12:59 pm, a SPPD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a seatbelt violation in the 700 block of E. Main St.  The driver, 49 Santa Paula resident, Brian Herron, was found to be driving on a suspended license. 

Prior to towing the vehicle incident to arrest, a SPPD K-9 officer who was in the area stopped to assist with the traffic stop.  The K-9 was utilized and it indicated the presence of narcotics.  SPPD officers searched the vehicle and found over 80 grams of methamphetamine in four individual packages, three syringes containing a small amount of heroin, a methamphetamine pipe, and a small amount of marijuana. 

Additional items were also found in the car indicating the narcotics were for sale.  Herron was also in possession of airsoft pistol.  Herron was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a smoking device, possession of syringes, and driving on a suspended license.

After being processed at Santa Paula Police Department Herron was transported to the Ventura County Main Jail where he is being held on $100,000 bail.  It should be noted Herron was arrested on August 3, 2016 and June 23, 2016, and on both occasions was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale.
