Santa Paula Salutes K-9 Officers: Hozy, Zak and Ace

The Santa Paula K-9 Unit started in 1981 with Sargent Rick Cook (former Mayor of Santa Paula) and partner “Bronco”. In the interim, viagra dosage the SPPD has utilized many of these highly trained, viagra sale intelligent German dogs as partners on the force.

At the recent dinner hosted by the Santa Paula Police and Fire Foundation, Officer Hozy’s service was honored, as he retired, while Zak’s continued service was honored. And the big news of the night was the introduction of Ace, the newest member of the K-9 force.

These dogs cost thousands of dollars to purchase and much more to train. The K-9 force is entirely funded by donations. A previous article discussed the costs of the K-9 force. Hozy was donated by Santa Paula’s famous restaurant of the same name “Hozy’s Grill”.  Hozy will retire but will remain with his partner  in a non-service role.

K-9 Officers Zak and Hozy are shown together in one of their last official photographs (SPPD photo). Santa Paula Red Hot Foods has produced a hot sauce honoring the K-9’s on the label.

The arrival of the newest K-9 member Ace was made possible by a major donation from Applied Silicone, a high-tech manufacturing company located in Santa Paula. In the picture below, Ace is shown with his partner. Behind them are the CEO of Applied Silicone and his wife, the donors. On the dais is Don Johnson, owner of the Santa Paula Times, who was the Master of Ceremonies. With his back to the picture sits Police Chief McClean who spoke honoring retiring Officer Hozy and Officer Ace and their partners.

The Santa Paula Explorers ran the auction prizes to the tables. The explorers are learning the roles of the police in anticipation of law enforcement as a career. Martha Brown manages this group and organized the huge auction made possible by many generous merchants.
