Santa Paula Police Department – Incident Press Release
Over the last few months, we have noticed an increase in illegal firework activity within the city. The department increased it’s patrols within the city and the Special Enforcement Unit has directed it’s focus on this activity. On Friday June 27, 2020, our Special Enforcement Unit seized a large quantity of “dangerous” fireworks. During the teams firework enforcement efforts, they came in contact with a person who was actively selling fireworks in the City of Santa Paula. A operation was commenced in which Officers arraigned to meet the suspect and purchase the fireworks for a negotiated price. This investigation is currently ongoing.
All fireworks including those labeled “dangerous” and “safe and sane,” are illegal in the City of Santa Paula. The community should continue to contact the Santa Paula Police Department on it’s non- emergency line to report the use of illegal fireworks and provide tips and information that can lead to the successful locating and confiscation of illegal fireworks.
