Santa Paula Police Department – Incident Press Release
On 5/7/20 at approximately 12:39 AM, SPPD officers responded to an alarm call at 568 W. Main St, Ace Hardware. Upon arrival officers located the front window smashed. The business was checked and no suspects were located. During the investigation it was determined two suspects had broken the front window and removed numerous items from the business.
On 5/13/20 at approximately 1:59 AM, officers respond to 989 E Main St, El Vaquero Guero Western Wear, for an alarm call. When officers arrived they located the front window smashed and determined a single suspect had entered the business and stolen numerous items.
On 5/13/20, patrol officers contacted two individuals in the area of Elm St. and Harvard Blvd. During the contact Maximo Hernandez was arrested for unrelated charges. During the booking process an officer recognized Hernandez from security video from the above incidents. Hernandez was interviewed an ultimately was arrested for both burglaries.
On 5/14/20 the SPPD Detective Unit and Special Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the SPPD SWAT team executed a multi-location search warrant in connection with the burglaries. During the execution of the warrants the second suspect in the Ace Hardware burglary, Antonio Porcallo, was located and taken into custody without incident.
During the warrant service, Maura Martinez, was placed under arrest for 148(a)(1) PC, Resisting, Obstructing or Delaying a Peace Officer and Paul Cardona was placed under arrest for 22010 PC, Possession of Nunchakus.
