Since the end of the Cold War, the global perception of the United States has progressively morphed from dominant international leader to disorganized entity. Robert Gates argues that this transformation is the result of the failure of political leaders to understand the complexity of American power, its expansiveness and its limitations. He makes clear that the successful exercise of power is not limited to the ability to coerce or demand submission, but must also encompass diplomacy, strategic communications, development assistance, intelligence, technology, and ideology.

A Time for Choosing Speaker Series is a new forum for leading voices in the conservative movement to address critical questions facing the future of the Republican Party. Through formal speeches delivered at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California, speakers will be invited to specifically address fundamental questions, such as “Why are you a Republican?,” “What should the Republican Party stand for?,” and “What are the Republican philosophies we can all agree on?”

The series derives its name from the iconic 1964 address Ronald Reagan delivered to support Senator Barry Goldwater’s presidential campaign. A political newcomer at the time, Ronald Reagan presented the country with a choice between “man’s old-aged dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order” and “the ant heap of totalitarianism.”

Speakers will include leading intellectuals, U.S. representatives, U.S. senators, governors and emerging 2024 presidential candidates. They will embody a range of viewpoints: As then-Governor Reagan said in 1967, “There is room in our tent for many views; indeed, the divergence of views is one of our strengths.”

FATHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

We are excited to offer our 7th annual Father’s Day Celebration at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Enjoy a delicious barbeque buffet of tri-tip, marinated chicken breast, garlic mashed potatoes, barbeque beans, coleslaw, and homemade cheddar corn muffins. Finish your lunch with our delicious chocolate fudge brownies. The Museum and our amazing Air Force One will be available for self-guided tours prior to your lunch.

We are following all protocols required by the CDC, so face masks and social distancing will be required. All guests will be required to wear a mask that covers their mouth and nose the entire time they are on campus, except for when they are sitting at their lunch table. All groups will be seated at their own reserved table. Also, in order to make this event successful, we will only allow 200 guests at each lunch time.
